In this section listed by category are the various product types into a logical order to simplify the identification of the most appropriate materials for the specific application. Links are included to the relevant product details, which are listed in the 'Product Brands' section

Rigid Insulation Boards

PIR closed-cell, rigid foam board insulation, primarily used on the roofs, walls and floors of domestic housing, offices, retail and industrial warehousingRigid PIR Insulation Boards

Rigid insulation boards are most commonly manufactured using PIR (polyisocyanurate) rigid foam, laminated with pure aluminium foil facings.

PIR boards are available with glass tissue facings. They are also manufactured with lamination to other elements such as plasterboard, plywood and bitumen polypropylene fleece.

Phenolic insulation boards are the most effective type of rigid insulation boards currently available. Rigid Phenolic Insulation Boards

The highest performance is achieved from boards manufactured using Phenolic foam.

These boards benefit from increased performance and reduced thickness requirements, which is, of course, reflected in the increased cost of these products.

Polystyrene insulation boards are the least effective type of rigid insulation. They come in two forms EPS - Expanded and XPS - ExtrudedRigid Polystyrene Insulation Boards

Expanded and extruded polystyrene come in at the lower end of the rigid board insulation scale due to their poorer insulation properties and reduced fire protection performance.

Commonly, polystyrene boards are used for under-floor insulation - EPS70. However, professional builders can favour specialist EPS and XPS products.

Mineral Wool Slabs and Rolls

Mineral wool slabs listed by categoryMineral Wool Slabs or Batts

Stone mineral wool offers both thermal and acoustic insulation properties, and are resistant to fire.

Processed using molten volcanic rock into which air or steam is introduced. The product is then spun on high speed spinning wheels. The result is a mass of fine, intertwined fibres that are compressed and bonded using either petroleum based chemicals. Knauf Insulation now use their Ecose™ technology to bind their products with 'rapidly renewable organic materials', obviating the need for phenol, formaldehyde, or acrylics in their more easy to handle range of products.

Mineral Wool RollsLightweight loft, cavity wall insulation, external wall, and metal framed building cladding. Sound insulation within partitions and floors, as well as excellent fire properties.

Low density glass mineral wool quilt is lightweight, flexible, resilient and non-combustible.
Loft rolls are commonly 1160mm wide and partially perforated to produce either 2 rolls 580mm wide or 3 rolls 386mm wide.

Rafter Roll are semi-rigid and are specifically designed for installation between rafters in warm roofs and loft conversions.

Acoustic Partition Rolls are glass mineral wool products, specifically designed to provide high levels of sound insulation in walls and floors.

Plasterboards, standard and application specific

British Gypsum and Knauf cater for the gross majority of pasterboard consumpltionConsider or large range of dry lining product, including plasterboards and adhesives that meet all dry-lining requirements, including high performance boards for greater fire, moisture, vapour, sound and impact results.

We offer a wide range of high quality boards to meet differing performance requirements for walls, ceilings, floors, partitions and encasements for any type of building.

Our application specific plasterboards include solutions for enhanced moisture, fire, acoustic, impact and thermal performance.

Thermal Laminates and high performance Insulated Plasterboards

Thermal laminates incorporating Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) and Phenolic Foam

Insulated plasterboards, also known as thermal laminates, can be fixed using adhesive, plaster dab, or mechanical methods, and are used to line brick or block walls in new, refurbished or extended residential and commercial buildings, to prevent loss of heat through exterior walls, helping reduce heating energy requirements.

They are also commonly used in retro-fit situations to add directly to finished plaster-boarded walls to improve their thermal performance.

Multi foils are easy to fit, very flexible, multi-layer insulation that offers significant thermal benefits

Foil Insulation, Heat Reflecting Membranes, and Radiant Barriers

Multi-foil Insulation

Multi-foil is the most popular of the foil insulation genre, as it is designed to inhibit the condensation difficulties that are inherent in bubble foil and single foil products.

Most commonly, multi-foil insulation is used to complement insulation boards, slabs or rolls to achieve optimum U Values, while minimising the width of roofs, walls and floors.

Bubble Foil Insulation

Single Bubble and Double Bubble foils are used in cavity walls; timber-frame walls; dry-lining and under floor.

Breather Foil Reflective Membrane

Breather foil membranes used in roofing and timber-frame walling solutions are becoming increasingly popular.

Single Foil Insulation is designed to reflect infra-red energy out of a property in the summer, and back into the building in the winter.Single Foil Laminate

Single foil can be used in cavity wall and ground floor under floor situations, but will create condensation problems if installed incorrectly or used inappropriately.

Please follow the manufacturer's installation instructions, and do not retro-tit in roofs or above ceilings

Breather Membranes to control the ingress of Air and Vapour

Designed to protect a property from the ingress of water vapour, while allowing potential condensation to evaporate. Membranes for roofs come in permeable and non-permeable varieties and can include reflective foil facings.

We offer a variety of nine different products suitable for numerous building applications.

Breather Membranes - Unfaced and with Reflective Facings

Designed to protect a property from the ingress of water vapour, while allowing potential condensation to evaporate. Membranes for roofs come in permeable and non-permeable varieties, and can also be used for walls.

Foil based facings are now becoming quite common, and can offer significant advantages offer traditional unfaced . varieties. Including, taking on the role of a Heat reflecting Membrane.

Acoustic Insulation for specialised applications

Two ranges of products, one based on Karma's innovative acoustic membrane, the other upon Cellecta's professional builder acoustic, and thermal, insulation systems.

Home-builders Acoustic Products

Now established as a market leader in home builders acoustic solutions with its wide range of competitively priced, acoustic solutions for both new build and refurbishment projects for walls, partitions, floors and other structural applications.

Professional Builders Acoustic Systems

One of the UK’s largest producers of environmentally friendly high performance acoustic insulation products, which are popular with all sectors of the construction industry including house builders, building contractors, ground workers, screeders, roofers and dryliners, who commonly use these products in new builds, refurbishments, and wall and floor conversions

Rubberised Elastomeric Tubes and Sheets

Class O rubber foam insulation prevents condensation and energy losses. It is the flexible, closed cell, elastomeric, nitrile rubber insulation that offers reliable protection against condensation and effectively prevents energy loss.

It is a highly efficient method of insulating hot and cold water services, chilled water lines, heating systems, air conditioning duct work and refrigerated pipe work for frost protection, energy conservation and condensation control.

Cladding and Tapes for specialist applications

Claddings comprise five-layer aluminium and polyester laminate that has become the industry standard covering for all sorts of types of insulation and building applications.

Robust and weatherproof, these products are designed as cladding for insulation applied to air conditioning ducting and ventilation ducting.

As well as enhancements to building insulation, and replacements for mastic, scrim, metal cladding, PIB rubber, and more.
